🐾 Juniper Whiskers Live Animal Shipping Policy

Effective Date: October 26, 2025 Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

1. ✅ Eligibility & Approval

  • We ship non-endangered, non-prohibited live animals including reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, birds and select invertebrates.

  • All shipments must comply with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Environment and Climate Change Canada regulations.

  • We only ship animals to destinations where provincial and municipal laws permit their ownership.

  • Customers must confirm they are legally allowed to receive the species being shipped.

2. 📦 Packaging Standards

  • Animals are shipped in secure, ventilated containers designed for their species.

  • Outer boxes are insulated, labeled with “LIVE ANIMAL – HANDLE WITH CARE” in bold letters ≥2.5 cm tall.

  • Heat or cold packs are included based on seasonal needs.

  • No loose substrate is used; absorbent padding (e.g., paper towels) is standard.

3. 🚚 Carrier & Service

  • We use approved carriers such as:

    • UPS Canada (only with signed live animal shipping agreement)

    • WestJet Cargo for air shipments (requires Live Animal Shipper’s Certificate)

    • uShip Canada for ground transport with verified pet transporters

  • All shipments are priority or overnight to minimize transit time.

4. 📅 Scheduling & Restrictions

  • Shipments are only dispatched Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend delays.

  • We do not ship during extreme weather conditions or statutory holidays.

  • Customers must be available to receive the shipment at the scheduled time.

5. 🧾 Documentation

  • Each shipment includes:

    • Species and quantity

    • Care instructions

    • Emergency contact

    • Shipper’s Certificate (for air cargo)

  • Customers must sign a Live Animal Acceptance Waiver upon delivery.

6. ⚠️ Liability & Risk

  • Live animal shipments are considered perishable commodities.

  • Juniper Whiskers is not liable for delays, carrier mishandling, or loss due to the perishable nature of the shipment.

  • Refunds or replacements are considered case-by-case, based on documented carrier error.
