Chinchillas are small, nocturnal rodents known for their exceptionally soft, dense fur and lively personalities. They require a cool, dry environment to thrive, as their dense coat is prone to overheating. A spacious cage with multiple levels encourages exercise, while a dust bath several times a week maintains their fur’s health and cleanliness. Their diet should consist mainly of high-quality hay, supplemented with specialized pellets and occasional treats like dried fruits. Regular handling helps socialize chinchillas, but care must be taken due to their delicate bones. Proper care ensures a healthy, active companion with a long lifespan.
