Gourami Fish

Gourami fish are peaceful, colorful freshwater species ideal for intermediate aquarists. These labyrinth fish breathe air from the surface, requiring minimal aeration. Maintain water temperatures between 72–82°F with neutral to slightly acidic pH. Provide planted tanks with hiding spots, as gouramis appreciate vegetation and calm environments. Feed high-quality flakes or pellets supplemented with occasional live foods. Most species thrive in 20-gallon tanks or larger, though dwarf varieties suit smaller setups. Compatible with non-aggressive tank mates, gouramis display fascinating personality and can live 4–7 years with proper care.
