Uromastyx

Uromastyx are hardy desert-dwelling lizards known for their distinctive spiked tails and herbivorous diet. They thrive in warm, arid environments with ample basking areas reaching temperatures of 40–45°C (104–113°F) and cooler hiding spots. Providing a diet rich in leafy greens, vegetables, and occasional flowers supports their health. Clean, dry substrate mimicking desert conditions is essential, as is access to fresh water for occasional soaking. Proper UVB lighting is critical to prevent metabolic bone disease. With attentive care, Uromastyx can live long, healthy lives in captivity, making them rewarding reptiles for experienced keepers.
